Story
Dear Mr. President,
I would, first of all, like to congratulate you with your victory over the title of Presidency. Millions of people listened to your inspirational speech that night when it was announced all over the world. However, I was given the chance to see it the very next day in my school assembly, and I couldn't help but listen to the other students' excited murmurs. "I knew he was gonna win," one said.
"I felt it, though," another agreed with a giggle.
I turned my head to the front of the auditorium then, and listened to a dozen more small conversations as I closed my eyes. If you could have only seen their faces, aglow with the hopes you've created for us...
The director of the school finally told us to settle down, and as everyone began to calm down almost instantaneously in their seats, I readied myself for the purpose of the assembly; we were going to watch your speech from the previous night. It was very powerful. The teacher who sat in front of me was crying, and that's how I knew that you did the very first thing you were expected to do: create hopes for us, because our last ones became too jaded to just have another one broken. But please remember, dear President, we have reasons why these tears surround our eyes.
We wanted you to be the new leader because we believe that you will not shake our hands just to shake another's. That your said promises to this country is not just some platitude speech to make a better name for yourself. We want you to be our new leader because we believe that you will be able to get the deafs to hear, the blinds to see, and the mute to speak freedom. I've always thought that such a time was possible--and that time would be now.
You will, after all, help us get there, won't you, Mr President?

Thanks so much, guys! I do appreciate the comments. I wrote it very late one night, but I just couldn't go to sleep without getting to express what was on my mind. -
