Call it women's intuition, premonition, or what ever you like; but I am really tracking these next 3 Hurricanes closely. I normally do not feel such apprehension, but something tells me this years storms are going to bring an awful lot of rain to Georgia.
No, I'm not bonkers. Yes we need the rains, but what people may not know is that the big old trees in Georgia, are water starved. Meaning that over the past year the roots have crawled to the surface looking for water. Then when we get the drenching rain it softens the ground and they literally just fall over. In all the years I've lived here I have never seen the root balls so shallow and small, in some cases they have just rotted away from the tree all together.
Our new house is surrounded by tall hickory, birch, and oak. So far we have been lucky, but our next door neighbor has already lost 5, they fell across the road instead of on the house.
As much as I would love to see {my lake} filled back up. I don't want to have to live on the new boat, while our house is being repaired; Or worse yet wake up with a tree in the middle of my living room.

Thanks-We're trying!
