Story
Thankful when I have one.
Frustrated and wet when I don't.
Yet, still wet when I do.
Struggling to keep it from flying away, or inside out.
Wondering when the next wind gust will drive rain inside my tent.
Protecting my newspaper, or books, or leather shoes.
Peeved when the woman next to me opens her umbrella so close I have to duck out of the way to avoid the prongs.
Unnerved by the droplets that scatter across my damp clothes when I close the thing and come home.
Wanting dry clothes, dry shoes, dry body.
Questioning the usefulness of this item I lug around, afraid I'll need it again someday.

Yeah, when I wanted to find out information on the history of the umbrella and searched online, the first 100 hits were her song.

I have the same dilemma. I hate carrying umbrellas around, but always wish I had one when it rains.
