Story
I know who you are. You think the iPhone is just some overrated new device that you don't need so you're not gonna buy it and fall for all the hype. Your phone is just fine, the Apple hysteria is getting annoying already and you heard AT&T gets crappy coverage anyways.
That is a misconception. The iPhone is not a phone. It's the phucking phuture.
Beyond placing calls and letting me get online faster than my home computer--beyond having a smooth touch tone screen that eases the tendinitis I already have in my thumb from texting--the iPhone has APPS.
Apps, or applications, are where the men are separated from the boys. I have so far downloaded applications that allow me to control, on my iPhone, all the music on my computer so it plays through my stereo. I downloaded an application turns my iPhone into a PhoneSaber, so it makes Star Wars noises depending on which direction I wave it. And I downloaded a recorder, so I can record my conversations and stop forgetting things.
The other night, we sang "Under The Bridge" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers into the iPhone. The iPhone actually figured out what song it was, offered to sell it to me through iTunes for 99 cents and then showed me a range of video performances on YouTube of the Chili Peppers doing the song.
I can shoot pictures, I can find out where I am through GPS, I can get a random list of suggested places to eat where ever I am.
Best 30th birthday gift ever. Thanks Mom!

Yeah, the restaurant app is awesome! Too bad I just got a new two year contract with Sprint a few months ago. -

Went to the local AT&T store yesterday,....2-4 week wait. I'm heading to the Pentagon City Apple store next week. Can't wait. Hubby got the older version last year, and I was salivating til my contract with Verizon expired. Now this bump in the road, I am sooo jealous.

Stumble It!
That's so funny-- a friend of mine simply refers to his iphone as The Future, too. I want an upgrade! Thanks for sharing.... and happy birthday!
